02/08/2006
PHOENIX -- Arizona Diamondbacks fans will have the chance to catch nearly all the team's games on television this year, thanks to the increased broadcast schedule the team released today.
"With 90 percent of our games on television this season fans will be able to stay connected to the team even when they can't make it to Chase Field," said Diamondbacks President Rich Dozer. "Our media partners are making it possible to showcase our team and players more than ever before."
The team will now televise 145 games of 162 games. KTVK (3TV), the team's over-the-air flagship station, will again televise 75 games, and FSN Arizona, the cable flagship, will broadcast 70 games, 10 more games than they've offered in past seasons. FOX Network will also air the match-up at San Diego on Saturday, August 18 at 1 p.m.
"3-TV is proud to be the exclusive over-the-air broadcast partner with the Arizona Diamondbacks for the upcoming 2006 Major League Baseball season," said 3-TV President and General Manager Mark Higgins. "We are excited to televise every Sunday Diamondbacks game and most of the Saturday games, making the Arizona Diamondbacks on 3-TV the place to spend your weekends. Along with key primetime games and the weekly Sunday D-Backs Playin' Hardball show, 3-TV is the place, where our viewers have an opportunity to share the excitement, which is Arizona Diamondbacks baseball."
"The 73 games FSN Arizona will televise represents the most Diamondbacks telecasts we have ever offered in one season, and we are very excited to add more games to our schedule," said FSN Arizona Vice President & General Manager Mike Connelly. "Our attractive package of telecasts, along with Diamondbacks Countdown, the weekly Diamondbacks Insider and nightly Arizona Sports Report, offer our 1.8 million viewers in Arizona and New Mexico comprehensive D-Backs coverage."
The Diamondbacks will feature 40 live 30-minute pre-game shows, Diamondbacks on Deck, presented by Coulter Cadillac, on 3TV on select Saturdays and Sundays, hosted by Jon Magnuson, from the site of that day's game. FSN Arizona will also air a pre-game show, Diamondbacks Countdown, hosted by Todd Walsh, before all 70 telecasts.
Thom Brennaman returns for his ninth season as play-by-play announcer for both the Diamondbacks' television network and FSN Arizona. Mark Grace will return for the third consecutive year as an analyst, with Baseball Hall of Famer Joe Garagiola Sr. stepping in as an analyst on select games. Matt Williams also returns for his second year as an analyst on select television and radio broadcasts.
All 162 games will be broadcast on NewsRadio 620 KTAR in Phoenix and the Diamondbacks' radio network, with Greg Schulte returning for this ninth year as play-by-play announcer, and Tom Candiotti by his side for his first year as radio analyst. Jeff Munn will also join the radio broadcast team as host of the pre-game radio show, Arizona Office Technologies Diamondbacks Dugout, and the Supercuts Wrap-up post-game show. All regular season games will also be broadcast in Spanish on Radio Fiesta 1400 AM KSUN. The team's Spanish voices are Miguel Quintana, Richard Saenz, and Oscar Soria.
In addition to regular season coverage, the Diamondbacks will broadcast 11 spring training games on the Diamondbacks' radio network, including the team's exhibition game versus the Mexican National Team at 5:35 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, and three games on KSUN. Three spring training games will also be televised on FSN Arizona.
